Sr. Evelyne Franc, D.C.; Sr. Kathleen Appler, D.C. and Sr. Marjory Ann Baez, D.C. listen as Talpa’s Kindergarten through 2nd Grade classes perform a selection of songs.

The Our Lady of Talpa School community was honored and delighted to cap off Catholic Schools Week in a very special way this year. On Friday, February 1, we received a visit from a group of Daughters of Charity.

This group of special guests included Sr. Evelyne Franc, D.C. (Superioress General of the Congregation of the Daughters of Charity); Sr. Kathleen Appler, D.C. (English Speaking General Councillor of the Daughters of Charity); Sr. Marjory Ann Baez, D.C. (Visitatrix of the Daughters of Charity, Province of the West); Sr. Chris Maggi, D.C. (Education Councillor of the Daughters of Charity, Province of the West); Sr. Judith Lynn Gardenhire, D.C. (Formation and Elderly Services Councillor of the Daughters of Charity, Province of the West); and Sr. Marion Bill, D.C. (Healthcare Councillor of the Daughters of Charity, Province of the West). Fr. Andrew Bellisario, C.M. (Provincial Director) also accompanied the group.

The group’s visit was included in the Southern California portion of Sr. Evelyne’s trip to the Province of the West. This trip was historic in that it was the first to the Province of the West for Sister Evelyne – who is French and lives in Paris – during her time as Mother General.

Our kindergarten through 2nd grade students kicked off the group’s Talpa visit with a special presentation of songs to welcome our visitors and to express love and appreciation for everything the Daughters do for our school community. The visit continued with a school tour, during which eager students, faculty and staff had the opportunity to greet and meet the distinguished guests. Students were also able to present questions to the sisters.

Our Talpa family was grateful to receive such a special visit, and we continue to be thankful for all that the Daughters of Charity do for our school community – including blessing us with the daily presence and commitment of Sr. Adella Armentrout, D.C, (Principal) and Sr. Louise O’Neill, D.C., (Administrative Assistant)!
